 
                                                
                                            The Senior Director Patient Care Services – role leads overall operations of acute care, intensive care, supplemental staff, Clinical Administrators and emergency department within Tappahannock Community Hospital. This will include activities and organizational initiatives that enable VCU Health System and Tappahannock to be recognized within the healthcare community for excellence in nursing, safety and quality and maintain continued recognition as Pathways to Excellence Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for the hospital. The individual in this position is responsible for implementing, communicating, monitoring, and evaluating professional practices, activities and strategies. Collaborates with the senior level leadership at Tappahannock in providing direction to promote the vision and assists in the implementation of strategies to support the business functions and patient care activities in collaboration with medical and nursing leadership teams.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current RN license in Virginia or eligible or compact state required Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current RN license in Virginia or eligible or compact state required Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of Seven (7) years of relevant clinical experience with three (3) of those years of progressive leadership and/or supervisory/management experience. Includes previous experience in operating clinical departments with significant financial, revenue cycle and operations responsibility. Demonstrated leadership and initiative in healthcare service excellence and business growth. Experience PREFERRED: Ten (10) years of experience of strong leadership experience over all aspects of clinical unit operations. Experience in leading multiple units a plus. Strong quantitative & analytical skills Education/training REQUIRED: (Note: work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval. Work experience must be specific to role) Master's Degree in Nursing or related field or within one semester of completion. If the Master's Degree is not in nursing, then it is required to have a BSN from an accredited school. Education/training PREFERRED: Certification in specialty area Independent action(s) required: Develops and implements initiatives and processes and creates goals for assigned departments that align with organizational and operational strategies. All day to day operations of the unit are handled independently Advice and guidance are sought from the VP on an as needed situational basis and when there is a major impact on activity outside the units. Actions that are taken without prior approval include daily operational functions and leadership of staff. Advice and guidance may be sought for termination of employees, handling employee grievances, review of annual goals for units and budgets, unit guidelines and procedures and review of staff annual performance evaluations. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Direct oversight of Acute Care, ICU, Palliative and Emergency Dept. leadership within assigned departments.
