Corporate Actions Specialist

More than 45 years ago, John C. Bogle had a vision to start an investment company that did things differently. A company with no external shareholders. Where all the profits were invested back into the business and used to lower costs. Evidently, it was as bold as it was brilliant. To this day, Vanguard Group still has no external shareholders. That means no share prices to protect, and no profits to generate for outside owners.

We're seeking a proactive and detail-driven Specialist to join our AU Corporate Actions team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with solid corporate actions experience who's ready to expand their impact—supporting global initiatives, driving process enhancements, and acting as a trusted partner to leadership.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of corporate action events across global markets, while contributing to a high-performing, collaborative, and value-focused team culture.

As a Specialist, you'll be central to the operational integrity of our Corporate Actions team. You'll manage event workflows, identify and mitigate risks, and support strategic initiatives. This role demands strong technical expertise, analytical acumen, and a collaborative mindset to help shape a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Action Execution & Oversight

  • Process and oversee mandatory and voluntary corporate action events in line with market deadlines and internal controls.
  • Interpret complex event terms and ensure accurate application across workflows.

Risk Management & Operational Control

  • Proactively identify and escalate discrepancies or risks in event processing.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on key systems and workflows; support testing and control enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with audit, regulatory, and governance standards.

Stakeholder Engagement & Global Collaboration

  • Partner with custodians, portfolio managers, and internal teams to resolve queries and ensure seamless execution.
  • Collaborate with global peers to align on best practices and support cross-regional initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on internal and external projects.

Team Enablement

  • Step in as a delegate or escalation point in the manager's absence.
  • Foster a positive team environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Analytical Insight & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse events to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Lead and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives.
  • Share insights that support strategic decision-making and champion a culture of proactive problem-solving.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience in corporate actions.
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets and corporate action lifecycle.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Python, familiarity with platforms such as IMActions, Markit, or Aladdin.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
