Internal Regional Consultant
On the Vanguard Retirement Plan Access (VRPA) team, we have a wonderful opportunity for you to learn and grow in a small, team-oriented, entrepreneurial sales environment!
The Internal Regional Consultant partners with their aligned Small Market Sales Executive to develop and drive new business within a specified territory. This role presents the opportunity to develop institutional sales and retirement plan expertise as you establish and execute territory strategy, respond to qualified leads, and initiate relationships with prospective advisors and clients in your territory.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with External Sales Executives in the development and execution of business plans to generate assets and close new business within the channel or territory.
- Ask open questions to potential leads. Identify related investment and service needs based on probing questions and move clients through the sales process.
- Deliver key messages through targeted prospecting activities. Raise client and prospect awareness of Vanguard's products and services. Lead conference calls and virtual meetings with clients and internal partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients in a given market segment. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients while partnering with external sales to drive business results.
- Conduct advanced needs analysis of client's financial circumstances to best position products and services that Vanguard offers based on information shared by the client.
- Identify client's non-Vanguard assets and shares comparable Vanguard products and services along with Vanguard's value proposition to drive additional business. Utilize market and product knowledge to highlight advantages and disadvantages of alternative investments.
- Partner with other departments as necessary to move clients to the next stage of the sales process.
- Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
- Five years related work experience. Relationship or account management experience preferred.
- Experience working with defined contribution plans preferred.
- Internal wholesaling experience preferred.
- Sales experience required.
- Experience with territory management and proactive prospecting required.
- Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
- This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC). Series 7 and Series 63.
Special Factors:
- Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this role.
- Limited business travel <25% per year.
- This individual is responsible for providing outstanding high quality service to internal clients, as well as external clients and prospects.
- This individual will be responsible for building deep relationships with small-market External Sales Executives, Financial Advisor Services (FAS) Sales Executives, and an outsourcing vendor. The information imparted by this individual may directly influence and impact the decision making process of prospective clients to award business to Vanguard.
- This representative will serve the small-market client-base and be responsible for retirement plan sales activities for plans with up to $50 million in assets.
