As a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker at VCH, you will:

• Work as a member of an interdisciplinary tertiary mental health team to provide comprehensive psychosocial rehabilitation services.
• Support individuals in returning to the community through increasing functional skills and abilities.
• Provide support to the recovery of individuals living with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
• Provide a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional, and social supports.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to assist in the development of individualized rehabilitative treatment plans.
• Contribute to the overall evaluation of the client.
• Observe and monitor clients' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
• Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect.
• Promote independence for clients while supporting them with activities of daily living.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment for clients and the team.
• Participate in team meetings, engage in team planning, and quality improvement activities.

About Intensive Tertiary Rehabilitation (Segal 4):

Adult intensive tertiary mental health rehabilitation provides inpatient service to people with complex mental illness that has stabilized to the degree that acute treatment is no longer required but rehabilitation is still required.

This program consists of 25 beds in a beautiful state of the art environment featuring expansive indoor and outdoor spaces, private rooms with baths, and many special amenities. The team consists of highly skilled interdisciplinary staff. Programming for group and individual therapy is unique and creative.

Our clients may stay for extended rehabilitation. If you enjoy building relationships with clients to support their recovery journey, this unit will be a great fit for you!

Qualifications

• Grade 12, Social Services Diploma, or Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program, plus two (2) years' experience working in a psychiatric setting.
• Successful candidates may be required to successfully complete a Food Safe certification course.
