Research Engineering/Scientist Associate I

The position supports the research activities in the Rausch Lab. Responsibilities span technical, experimental, and administrative tasks across biomechanics, materials, and engineering applications.

Purpose

Contribute to laboratory research and operations by supporting experimental biomechanics studies, computational modeling, data processing, and organizational tasks essential for the functioning of the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Technical support for experiments and research: 3D printing of test fixtures and prototypes; programming control software in LabVIEW; data generation and processing in MATLAB; CAD design in SolidWorks; and occasional simulation work in Abaqus.
  • Scientific support: Assistance with ongoing scientific experiments, including digital image correlation, particle image velocimetry, and in vitro tissue preparations.
  • Administrative and organizational tasks: Ordering reagents and devices, planning lab clean-ups, managing laboratory equipment (including freezer maintenance), and other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with engineering laboratory environments, research equipment, and experimental protocols.
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks), LabVIEW, MATLAB, and finite element modeling software such as Abaqus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Salary Range

$54,000/year

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Occasional handling of laboratory equipment and biological samples.
  • Occasional on-call or after-hours duties as needed.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
