Purpose

Provide primary medical care to the student population at the University of Texas at Austin.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary medical healthcare services to the student population at the University of Texas at Austin as a University Health Services (UHS) Urgent Care Provider
  • Supervision of and consultation with Advanced Practice Providers
  • Participates in committees, policy revisions, peer review and in the development and evaluation of medical care standards as needed
  • Participates in the overall goals of the organization: Reviews and demonstrates compliance with UHS and departmental policies and procedures Exhibits professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service in all aspects of work Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance pattern
  • Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Completion of ACGME Residency Program in the United States
  • Current Board certification in Family Medicine or comparable specialty applicable to college health
  • Valid DEA registration
  • Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine. If licensed in another state, must be able to obtain license in the State of Texas prior to date of hire
  • Two or more years of experience in providing primary medical care to patients in an ambulatory setting, including use of electronic medical records
  • Proficiency and comfort performing minor procedures, including laceration repair, incision and drainage, minor wound care and toenail removal

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than the required years of experience
  • Two or more years of experience in providing medical care to young adult age patients, preferably in a college health clinic
  • Experience with medical supervision of advanced practice registered nurses and/or physician assistants in a clinic setting
  • Leadership experience in an ambulatory clinic setting overseeing medical staff
  • Keen diplomatic instincts, emotional intelligence and skill in engaging individuals and groups in constructive conversation
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent professional demeanor
  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferably Point and Click
  • Familiarity in working in an integrated behavioral health clinic setting
  • Experience working with college-age populations

Salary Range

$185,000 per year

  • Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in offices, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.

Work Shift

  • 40 hours per week (to be discussed during interview)
  • Clinics hours: 8AM – 5PM; work hours to be discussed
  • Some evening or weekend hours, as needed

Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staff who are promotion/transfer eligible may apply for positions without supervisor approval.

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

Background Checks

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
