Technical Services Supervisor -- Infrastructure System

The Technical Services Supervisor -- Infrastructure System is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and integration of all low-voltage systems across the district, including audiovisual (AV) equipment, fire alarm systems, and security infrastructure such as cameras and access control systems. This role leads and coordinates daily operations of the Technical Services team, managing staff, scheduling work assignments, and ensuring service requests and projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to established standards.

While housed in the Auxiliary Services Department, the position requires consistent and proactive collaboration with the Information Technology Department to ensure compatibility, integration, and strategic alignment of systems district-wide. The Supervisor also provides technical expertise, guidance, and support to colleagues and departments across the district, and plays a vital role in safeguarding and enhancing district facilities by maintaining secure, compliant, and innovative system infrastructure.

Minimum Required Qualifications

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or an Associate's degree with a combination of four (4) years of professional work experience
  • Two (2) years of job-related experience
  • Working knowledge of IP networking principals (e.g., cabling, addressing, VLANs, etc.)
  • Valid Driver's license and evidence of insurability
  • Ability to roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite skills and experienced using data-based software
  • Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment
  • Five (5) or more years of technical service experience
  • Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

1. Supervise and oversee system operations; plan, coordinate, install, maintain, and repair systems including Audio/visual systems (e.g., PA systems, projectors, streaming media, smartboards), Fire/CO alarm systems (ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and safety standards), Security systems (e.g., surveillance cameras, access control, alarms)

2. Serve as the primary liaison between Auxiliary Services and IT for all district infrastructure technology projects, ensuring system compatibility, integration, and alignment with district-wide technology goals

3. Collaborate with stakeholders, including internal departments, external contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies (e.g., State Fire Marshal) to complete work efficiently, safely, and in compliance with laws and codes

4. Plan and implement system strategies, developing both long-term and short-term goals for technology upgrades, lifecycle replacements, and preventative maintenance

5. Evaluate and recommend policies and standards related to equipment, system design, and operational procedures for AV, fire, and security infrastructure across district facilities

6. Provide leadership and supervision by training staff, assigning daily work, monitoring progress, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure quality, accountability, and professional growth

7. Maintain accurate records of installed systems, work orders, service logs, warranties, compliance inspections, and maintenance schedules

8. Prepare standard documentation (e.g., schedules, budget, reports, etc.) to provide written support and convey information

9. Research various topics (e.g., evolving technologies, code requirements, etc.) to remain current in the field

10. Respond to emergency situations to solve immediate safety concerns

11. Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey, and gather information required to perform job functions

12. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position

13. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders

14. Follow all department and federal safety practices and procedures to ensure a safe and effective working environment

15. Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information, and meeting deadlines

16. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required

17. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively

18. Speak, read, write, analyze, understand, and follow written and verbal communication in English including grammar and punctuation; listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing

19. As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.

20. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the unit

Work Environment & Physical Demands: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 40% walking, and 30% standing. This job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and illness.
