We are looking for a seasonal intern to support our Salt Lake City Engineering team. As a Surveying Engineering Intern, you will support a variety of projects aimed at improving Salt Lake City's public infrastructure, including streets, office buildings, bikeways, sidewalks, parks, and other assets within the public right-of-way. This position includes fieldwork involving the application of modern surveying techniques using GPS and robotic instruments, as well as data collection and documentation. You'll also assist with office tasks involving mapping, analysis, and design using AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
This is a seasonal, non-benefited position, not to exceed 6 months of employment.
The Community and Neighborhoods Engineering Division administers the design and procurement of construction projects funded by the City's Capital Improvement Program and the Funding Our Future bond. Applicants for roles within the Engineering Division can expect to support projects that improve streets within the public right-of-way, office buildings, bikeways, and sidewalks – all important areas of the City's growing infrastructure that everyone uses.
Pay rate: $20.00/hr. Early application submittal is encouraged. This position will remain open until it is filled and may close at any time without notice.
Working conditions: Moderate physical effort, comfortable working conditions, and handling of weights up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking may be required. Moderate field time. Subject to extended exposure to computer visual display terminals.
