Senior Manager Of Career Services
The Director of Career Services provides strategic leadership for career development and employer relations across the College of Computational, Mathematical & Physical Sciences, serving seven departments. The position designs and leads a scalable, data-informed career services ecosystem while providing direct leadership for an assigned department as part of a broader college-wide role.
What you'll do in this position:
College-wide Career Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement a college-wide vision and strategy for career development
- Lead and coordinate department-level Career Directors and student mentors
- Serve as primary liaison to University Career Services and represent CMS on university committees
- Define college-level goals for student career outcomes and report progress to leadership
- Develop and manage the college's career services budget (student wages, events, marketing, technology, outreach, and related operating funds), monitoring expenditures, reallocating resources, and recommending funding priorities to college leadership
- Share best practices with peer colleges and contribute to campus-wide improvements in career development for all BYU students
- Develops and recommends college-level policies and standards for career readiness, employer engagement, and experiential learning integration
Resource Development, Data, & Technology:
- Design scalable career resources and tools for STEM students (e.g., online modules, trained chatbots, self-guided tools, and resource libraries)
- Lead collection, analysis, and reporting of career outcomes and engagement data
- Oversee dashboards, automated outreach, and CRM/Handshake analytics
- Use data to inform strategy and improve services
Programming, Curriculum Integration, & Communication:
- Partner with faculty to integrate career development into curriculum
- Oversee communication and marketing campaigns including strategic messaging as students progress through their major
- Create and maintain career maps aligned with academic major maps
- Develop mentoring programs and career-related events
Employer & Alumni Relations:
- Lead employer engagement strategy for internships and full-time roles
- Cultivate partnerships with industry and alumni
- Coordinate recruiting events and employer outreach with University Career Services
- Support alumni mentoring and engagement initiatives
Direct Advising and Coaching:
- Ensure departmental access to high-quality career programming and resources
- Conduct targeted outreach to students in greatest need of support
- Provide individual and group career advising
Supervision & Staff Development:
- Provides formal leadership and performance input for department-level Career Directors, including evaluating their alignment with college-wide strategic priorities
- Hire, train, and supervise student employees and assigned professional staff
- Establish workflows, expectations, and performance feedback processes
- Oversee student associations and facilitate professional development for leaders and advisors
What qualifies you for this role:
Required:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Master's degree in a related field (higher education, counseling, human resources, business, or a STEM discipline)
- 5--7 years of progressively responsible experience in career services or a related field with transferable skills
- Strong understanding of contemporary recruiting and career advancement practices, especially for computing, mathematics, and physical sciences
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate data to inform strategy and advise leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders
- Commitment to BYU's mission and the standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Pay Grade: 53
Typical Starting Pay: $73,000.00 to $95,000.00
