The Utah Office of Energy Development (OED) is seeking a Research Engineer to join our team at the Utah San Rafael State Energy Lab in Orangeville, Utah. The ideal candidate will support molten salt thermophysical property testing for advanced energy and nuclear clients by operating gloveboxes, high-temperature equipment, and analytical instruments. The incumbent will assist in preparing, purifying, and analyzing molten salt mixtures; operating specialized analytical hardware; maintaining laboratory equipment; and documenting all experimental results according to established procedures and safety requirements. Other tasks may be assigned, as needed, under the direction of the Research Engineering Manager. It is anticipated that responsibilities will rapidly expand as additional molten salt and materials programs are established at the Lab. The Research Engineer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the office’s mandates as outlined in State Code Sections 79-6-301 and 79-6-401.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
