Position Summary: Peer Support plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment at the seasonal Warming Center, which provides life-saving overnight shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter months. Working under the direction of the Warming Center Coordinator and Supervisor, Peer Support staff draw on their own lived experience with homelessness, recovery, or related challenges to offer encouragement, build rapport, model positive behaviors, and support guests in accessing resources as part of a trauma-informed, team-based approach.
Administrative Responsibilities
Qualifications: Lived experience with homelessness, recovery, or related challenges (required) Certified Peer Support Specialist training and certification (required) At least 6 months of experience in peer support, human services, or related role preferred Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills; ability to remain calm under pressure Knowledge of local resources and social service agencies preferred Reliable transportation: valid driver's license and good driving record preferred Flexibility to adjust schedule as needed Must pass a BCI Background Check Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
