OT Systems Engineer

Summary of Duties: As the OT Systems Engineer you are responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of Merit's industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology infrastructure. Including but not limited to networking, servers, hardware, firmware, software and cybersecurity. Ensuring smooth operation of critical processes while prioritizing cybersecurity measures and compliance with industry standards; this role involves installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and updating OT systems. Often working closely with operations teams to identify and resolve issues affecting production efficiency. Leveraging superior interpersonal skills to strengthen relationships with multiple departments and global sites. Clearly document flows and system dependencies of Merit's OT/IoT environment.
Essential Functions Performed:
- Establishing/maintaining a strong partnership with multiple departments.
- Partnering together to install, configure, and maintain OT/IoT hardware and software, including PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, and edge devices.
- Partnering to ensure that we have proper monitoring, identify and resolve issues related to device connectivity, data integrity, and system malfunctions.
- Manage user access controls and permissions for OT/IoT systems.
- Automate regular backups and disaster recovery procedures for critical OT/IoT data.
- Work closely with InfoSec to implement robust security measures to protect OT/IoT networks from cyber threats, including network segmentation, vulnerability scanning, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Monitor for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents within the OT/IoT environment.
- Regularly perform patch management reviews and firmware updates for OT/IoT devices.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from OT/IoT systems to identify trends, optimize operations, and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Generate reports on system health, performance metrics, and security incidents.
- Work closely with operations teams, MIS, and vendors to ensure seamless integration of OT/IoT systems with other enterprise systems.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting OT/IoT related issues.
- Stay updated on emerging OT/IoT technologies and industry best practices.
- Work with multiple departments and locations, continually updating our documentation of our OT/IoT solutions.
- Work on projects to implement new OT/IoT solutions as requested by the business.
- Communicating with the operations teams, ensuring that we are enabling them to complete their projects and objectives, following best practices.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in MIS/engineering field
- 10 years of industry experience
- Industry certifications (IoT Fundamentals, PLC, CCNA, MCSE, CompTIA Security+, etc)
- Experience with ICS architectures
- 5 years' experience with SCADA
- 5 years' experience with PLCs
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation tasks
