Network Operations Intern
Leidos, a leading defense, intelligence, and technology company, is seeking a motivated Network Operations Intern to join our Digital Modernization Group on the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at Hill AFB, UT. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the operations, sustainment, and defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN), supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Join our Operations and Maintenance team and tackle real-world challenges, contributing directly to the security and reliability of vital communication networks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Gain hands-on experience in Network Operations, Network Maintenance, Network Management and Incident Management.
What You'll Do:
- Provide incident management support for the Department of Defense global network, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
- Assist in performing fault isolation, analysis, and troubleshooting across various transport platforms (SONET, DWDM, TDM, cryptographic systems), developing skills in transport, IP, and source/destination analysis, collaborating with engineers, vendors, and customers to determine root cause.
- Create, update, and resolve incident tickets using ServiceNow ITSM+, maintaining accurate records and facilitating efficient issue resolution.
- Monitor internet access points for events impacting global connectivity, proactively identifying and escalating potential issues.
- Perform real-time network monitoring using various network monitoring tools, maintaining situational awareness and ensuring network stability.
- Review, update, and develop documentation and metric collections for contract delivery, contributing to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Provide timely and informative situational awareness updates to leadership and customers for all network-impacting events, ensuring effective communication and transparency.
- Support customer questions and issues during all phases of Network Management, delivering exceptional customer service and resolving inquiries effectively.
- Verify service restoration upon resolution of customer-initiated tickets, ensuring customer satisfaction and service continuity.
- Record, assess, track, and monitor incident tickets escalated to specialized teams and engineers, ensuring timely and appropriate action.
What You'll Bring:
- Actively pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology) from an accredited college/university.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, OSI Model, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
- Proven ability to perform data analysis, extract meaningful insights.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and contract personnel via telephone, email, instant messaging, and in person.
- Commitment to obtaining Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification) within a specified timeframe.
- Eligibility to obtain an interim Secret DoD Security clearance (sponsored by Leidos).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Geographic Requirement: This position is based on-site at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Reliable transportation to Hill AFB is required.

Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
