Machine Technology Sales Rep
Wheeler Machinery Co. is looking for a Machine Technology Sales Rep to support the growth of machine technology solutions across our territory. This role focuses on selling CAT technology products—such as Product Link, CAT Grade, CAT Payload, CAT Detect, CAT Compact and CAT Assist—while educating customers on the productivity, safety, and efficiency benefits these solutions provide. The ideal candidate is customer focused, technology driven, and skilled at communicating value to decisionmakers in our construction industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote and sell CAT Machine Technology systems to new and existing customers across Wheeler's territory.
- Conduct customer site visits to assess needs and recommend technology solutions that improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Provide product demonstrations for contractors, fleet managers, and operators.
- Develop strong relationships with customers, understand their business needs and create tailored technology solutions.
- Collaborate with internal departments—service, parts, and sales—to ensure smooth customer onboarding and support.
- Provide basic machine technology training and coordinate deeper technical training with Field Service teams when necessary.
- Generate sales leads for aftermarket technology installations and upgrades.
- Stay informed on emerging CAT technologies and industry trends to better position Wheeler's offerings.
- Attend trade shows, demos, and customer events as needed.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- A positive attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust quickly.
- Customer focused mindset with a strong desire to help customers improve productivity and profitability.
- Understanding of construction equipment applications and jobsite operations.
- Basic understanding of machine technology systems (telematics, grade control, payload, operator assist, machine safety systems).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and digital applications.
- Ability to travel throughout Wheeler Machinery's territory.
- Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
- College degree preferred, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in construction equipment sales, retail strategy, or business development—ideally with Caterpillar or other leading heavy equipment brands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in equipment sales, technology sales, or related customer facing roles.
- Familiarity with VisionLink, VisionLink Productivity, Product Link, and other CAT or OEM telematics platforms.
- Understanding construction technology trends and productivity solutions.
- Experience in heavy equipment, construction, or mining industries.
- Prior experience working within a Caterpillar dealership.
- Knowledge of Trimble or other grade control systems.
