Entry-Level Software Engineer

Join the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) team, where you'll contribute to groundbreaking innovations! We are seeking applicants for an Entry-Level Software Engineer position to join our Strategic Military Space (SMS) Division. The Strategic and Military Space Division delivers advanced satellite and sensor systems that support the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Our division is a key component of national security, providing technological solutions and expert mission support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and troubleshoots new or existing software services and applications
  • Designs and develops utility programs
  • Interfaces with program team members, as required
  • Provides inputs for documentation of new or existing programs, as required
  • Writes clean, consistent, well-documented code
  • Implements, tests, and maintains code for internal and external customers
  • Ensures that code meets end-user requirements
  • Collaborates with other developers to ensure new projects integrate with existing systems
  • Provides operational support for existing systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance
  • BS or higher degree in engineering or computer science and 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of common programming languages and object-oriented practices (C#, Python, Rust, C++, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools and processes
  • Technical skills in programming, designing, systems development, and testing
  • Introductory-level knowledge of common software development processes (revision control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in compiled and interpreted computer languages
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC)
  • Experience with RF communications
  • Familiarity with electric circuits, FPGAs, etc.
  • Familiarity with hardware protocols (Serial, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, SpaceWire, etc.)
  • Comfortable in Linux-based operating systems

Salary Range $70,000 - $93,500 Salary commensurate based on education and experience
