Job Overview: Under the close supervision of an administrative superior, performs a variety of routine and specialized clerical work pertaining to functions at the Weber County Animal Shelter.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews, enters, and verifies information into electronic Records Management System, Chameleon, or other database.
  • Receipts and makes returns.
  • Prepares daily deposit for accountant.
  • Processes requests for records and reports.
  • Enter and maintain release forms from other cities.
  • Close out month-to-month files.
  • Prepare monthly license reminders.
  • Receives telephone callers and visitors, handling any questions or matters of a non-technical or routine nature, direct call and visitors to the appropriate staff member.
  • Assists and processes visitors, as required.
  • Assists with animal adoptions.
  • Processes and delivers incoming and outgoing office mail, process license renewals.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing animals.
  • Determines and collects fees and processes transactions for animals, records, licenses, etc.
  • Handles receipts, notices, certificates and licenses, and keeps records of transactions.
  • Files documents as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education/Experience: Education: High school graduation or equivalent. Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in clerical work. Work experience must be appropriate to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Knowledge: Modern office practices and procedures; working knowledge of specialized duties required by the position. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database software applications.

Skills: Skilled in typing and general office equipment.

Abilities: Ability to perform a variety of clerical work, including some exercise of independent judgment. Ability to make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the general public. Capable of standing/sitting for extended periods while entering data into computers.

Special Qualifications: May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned. Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.
