VP Engineering, Product, & Design (EPD)

uShip seeks a hands-on VP of EPD to join our executive leadership team as a strategic partner to the CEO. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our business-oriented solutions and technology within an established organization focused on modernizing its technology, processes, and execution velocity. Reporting to the CEO, the VP will collaborate closely with the business and other leaders to drive the product roadmap, achieve technology goals, and advance our cloud-based platforms.

The ideal candidate is a proven technology strategist and architect with a track record of leading high-performing engineering, product, and design teams, balancing legacy and modern platforms, executing against product vision, leveraging public cloud stacks, proprietary data, and ML/AI technologies. They will excel in mentoring teams, fostering cross-functional collaboration, getting into the weeds, and representing technology strategy at the board level.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to align technology and product trends with company success.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~30+ professionals across Development, QA, IT, Security, Technical Project Management, Architecture, Data Engineering, Product, and Design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to shape the company's technological and product direction.
• Oversee hiring, performance, and budgets for the EPD team.

Strategic Technology and Product Execution

• Develop and execute the technology and product strategy to support growth and modernization.
• Drive platform transformation to optimize technology utilization and business processes.
• Implement best practices for SaaS/marketplace/logistics organizations, fostering a culture of operational excellence.
• Manage technology resources, balancing in-house and third-party solutions.
• Research emerging technologies, including mobile strategies, to support future growth.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 12+ years in progressive technology roles, including 5+ years in senior leadership within high-growth Marketplace. Logistics, or SaaS organizations.
• Led engineering teams of 30+ in distributed environments, with expertise in Agile and Continuous Delivery.
• Proven success in modernizing platforms, leveraging cloud platforms, data warehousing solutions, identify or federation providers, and similar systems.
• Track record of improving performance, scalability, security, and SEO through tools like Google Analytics and Web Console.
• Experience with A/B testing, page conversion optimization, and mobile performance.
• Designed and delivered product roadmaps on time and budget, transitioning from legacy to scalable architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies, reorganize teams, and establish KPIs for accountability.
• Hands-on experience with systematic refactoring and platform rebuilds or M&A systems integration

Location: Austin, TX 78701, Remote or hybrid options available Salary: $280k+ in base salary ($320k+ estimated total comp, includes discretionary bonus, equity, insurance, 401k matching, etc.)
