Development Engineer

We are seeking an engineer with a robust technical background in data acquisition and measurement systems, specifically in LabView-based test automation and data acquisition, mechanical engineering, and the development and design of test tools and methods. The ideal candidate will develop best-in-class LabView-based test automation methods and tools, as well as test hardware and tools to support the prototype development and performance characterization of mechatronic, fluidic, and thermal subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop LabView-based test automation tools and data acquisition interfaces for characterizing mechatronic, fluidic, and thermal subsystems.
  • Become familiar with Siemens LabView utilities for data acquisition and control of sensors and motors, integrating these libraries to build LabView code for test automation across subsystems.
  • Develop and prototype test hardware with exposure to CAD-based mechanical design.
  • Customize sequences and test definitions to run specialized tests and DOEs on Siemens instruments, and collaborate with systems/software engineers to implement software patches and deploy them to test instruments.
  • Contribute to developing prototypes and test platforms for new design concepts.
  • Collaborate with mechatronics specialists and design and test engineers from mechanical engineering to develop and integrate test tools and test automation solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams and actively identify potential technical problems, providing effective solutions through original and innovative thinking.

Essential Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of and experience with LabView and LabView-based data acquisition, instrument control, and test automation.
  • Basic-to-intermediate knowledge of CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
  • Working knowledge of test hardware and fixture development.
  • Familiarity with basic signal analysis and data analysis methods.
  • Understanding of basic electrical circuit theory and components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors/Masters in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or biomedical engineering.
  • Relevant prior work experience of 2-15+ years is preferred.
  • Prior experience in product development for the medical, aerospace, automotive, factory automation, robotics, and precision instruments industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in NX, Simcenter 3D Structures, and familiarity with Solidworks and Teamcenter is highly desirable.

Work Environment

This is a long-term contract opportunity spanning 12 to 24 months, with 1 week of vacation time and 6 paid holidays. The work location is in New York, with the possibility of onsite or hybrid work arrangements. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a global medical technology company.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
