The primary responsibility of this position is to provide assistance to the Support Service Section of the United States Attorney's Office. Responsibilities include processing supply requests, receiving deliveries, setting up audio and visual equipment, maintaining a log-in system for housekeeping and facilities maintenance requests, processing outgoing hand deliveries, and purchasing supplies. Answering the telephone system, receiving visitors, opening and distributing mail, maintaining an inventory of property, and producing written documents using office automation software are also part of the role. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.
For the GS-5: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in Federal service or 4 years of education above high school. Specialized experience includes working in an office greeting visitors and answering phone calls, sorting and delivering incoming mail, maintaining and stocking supply room, and preparing various documents using word processing software.
For the GS-6: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes working in an office greeting visitors and operating a multi-line telephone system, handling mail services including processing all incoming and outgoing mail, ordering office supplies from various vendors, and preparing various documents using word processing software.
For the GS-7: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes working in an office greeting visitors and operating a multi-line telephone system, handling mail services including processing all incoming and outgoing mail, ordering office supplies from various vendors, and preparing various documents using word processing software.
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) provide selection priority for eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees and eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice, respectively.
