General Support Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing general support duties in conjunction with several administrative services functions including management of mail, checks, records and forms; supplies, printed material, and copying equipment.

Typical work assignments will include:

  • Ensuring mailing supplies are on-hand and keeping the mailroom and the room used for sorting clean and organized.
  • Keeping the supply rooms in a neat orderly manner.
  • Ensuring purchases comply with the various rules and procurement regulations outlined on the purchase card transaction form.
  • Serving as a back-up receptionist.
  • Setting up and rearranging conference rooms for meetings, trainings, press conferences, and other events.
  • Scheduling and setting up video tele-conferences.
  • Moving records boxes, supplies, office furniture, equipment and other items as needed (under 50 pounds).

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following conditions as defined below:

Specialized Experience: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience implementing mail management processes (i.e. opening and sorting incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, etc.); maintaining supply inventory; performing conference/meeting room set up to include movement of furniture (i.e. tables and chairs).

To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet the following conditions as defined below:

Specialized Experience: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as maintaining supply inventories; purchasing office supplies in compliance with procurement rules, policies and procedures; reconciling purchase card statements; performing conference/meeting room set up to include movement of furniture (i.e. tables and chairs); maintaining logs and inventory databases.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
