Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations)

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations). The Supervisory Dietitian (Food Operations) will function under the Nutrition & Food Service. Responsibilities include providing food-operations-specific leadership, serving as a professional and technical advisor to staff and other health care professionals, and having oversight over HR staffing, employee relations, and labor relations in Food Service Operations. The position exercises a full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities in planning, directing, and assessing the work of subordinate staff. It establishes a training plan for the food operations section, develops and leads food operations, and establishes strategic goals ensuring priorities align with the strategic plan of the NFS department, VISN, and national programs. The role also leads the continuous quality improvement effort in Food Service Operations, identifies and prioritizes problems, sets long and short-term goals, and develops action plans and analyzes data to evaluate progress to improve outcomes. Additionally, it develops and updates policies and procedures, establishes and oversees a system for regulatory compliance, and coordinates food service operation policies and procedures with clinical nutrition management, nursing, and other services, as applicable. The position manages the budget and other resources, anticipating future trends and inflation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. Telework: Adhoc only. Requirements include being a U.S. Citizen, proficient in written and spoken English, subject to background/security investigation, and selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel. Qualifications include basic requirements such as United States Citizenship, and being registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or fulfilling specific educational and experiential requirements. Grade determinations include experience, knowledge of business administration practices, skill in written communication, strategic planning, ability to analyze data, ability to supervise subordinate staff, and ability to negotiate.
