Food Service Operations Leader

The primary purpose of the position is to carry out the strategic and business aspects of the full food service operations section and make decisions based on intricate and unrelated information and assumptions from inconclusive or variable data in all aspects of food operations. Responsibilities include providing food-operations-specific leadership, serving as a professional and technical advisor to staff and other health care professionals, having oversight over HR staffing, employee relations, and labor relations in Food Service Operations, exercising a full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities, establishing a training plan for the food operations section, developing and leading food operations, establishing strategic goals, and ensuring priorities align with the strategic plan of the Nutrition and Food Services department, VISN, and national programs. The position is located at the VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) and requires a U.S. citizen proficient in written and spoken English, subject to background/security investigation, and participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program. The position is not eligible for telework or virtual work, and does not offer relocation/recruitment incentives or permanent change of station. The position requires a 1-year or 2-year trial period during which the candidate's fitness and whether their continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. The position requires a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Preferred experience includes three years' experience in an industrial kitchen or food service setting, three years' experience as a clinical dietitian, experience in educating food service staff on clinical and food service topics, experience working with inspectors of accrediting agencies, and one year supervisor experience.
