Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Forensic Structural Engineer with interests in structural forensic investigation, litigation support, structural repair, and retrofit design. This individual will be expected to execute structural investigations of existing buildings and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, claims response, and litigation support. The candidate will be required to work in multidisciplinary teams, and coordinate with project managers on interdisciplinary efforts. This is a full-time position starting Summer 2026.

Responsibilities

Complete structural analysis and repair design of concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and other structural systems. Site inspections and investigations including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching. Researching the historical background of diverse structures, technical issues, and code issues. Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem-solving.

Requirements

Degree (Master's preferred) in structural or architectural engineering; an undergraduate in engineering is required. Field experience with diverse building types is a plus. Willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is $75,000 - $87,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
