Stationary Engineer Apprentice

The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Stationary Engineer Apprentice to join our dynamic team on Chicago's Museum Campus. The Engineer Trainee Program is designed to train persons so that they qualify to become an Engineer. This individual will also be responsible for:

Assisting in monitoring and maintaining facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.

Participating in daily facility walk-throughs, documenting and reporting any deficiencies. Assisting with routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs under supervision.

Assisting with general building maintenance, including patching walls, painting, light carpentry, and basic equipment repairs. Maintaining cleanliness and ensure proper use of all tools and equipment.

Maintaining detailed logs and records related to equipment maintenance and service work.

Assisting with the monitoring and escorting of contractors and vendors to ensure they comply with our facility's safety and quality standards.

Performing other assigned tasks that support the smooth operation of our facilities.
