Marketing Specialist

Perform all marketing activities of new business and remarkets of existing accounts upon request. Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous service to customers, producers, and company personnel. Meet marketing and quality standards adopted by the agency. Contribute to complex aspects of requests, issues, and problems. Work independently and collaboratively. Function as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Respond to new business prospects and remarket requests per agency established timelines

In collaboration with loss control and claims team, review, evaluate and analyze third-party contracts, MOD reports, OSHA logs, safety procedures, employee handbooks, and return-to-work programs to develop risk mitigation strategies.

Oversee the internal implementation of service plan agreements, ensuring all commitments are executed by the appropriate team members.

Ensure compliance with internal workflows, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Provide technical support to producer to benefit customer and to reach agency's strategic business goals

Pre-qualify insurance prospects according to agency standards, insurability, and quality of risk

Independently design or assist in the design of insurance plans (i.e., independently determine carriers to engage with) for prospects as assigned and directed by the agency management

Survey loss exposures, needs, and possible uninsurable or difficulty to insure exposures for producers

Prepare submission applications and assist producer to gather information needed for a complete submission

Produce quotes on appropriate in-house rating programs and/or in-carrier websites in accordance with company new business underwriting guidelines

Submit applications and related documentation to eligible and appropriate carriers; follow up to ensure timely receipt of quotations

Prepare submissions and negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected carriers. Review all quotations with recommendations as to the best options for price, coverage, and risk alternatives

Review quotations received, submit viable quotes to the producer for review, and prepare proposals for presentation to customer

Bind coverage within binding authority; request the binding of coverage from carriers when no binding authority exists

Prepare invoice for insured, collect appropriate down payment, and secure signed applications in coordination with producer

Submit signed applications to carrier; follow up to ensure timely receipt of policies

Attend to customers' needs by producing binders, certificates, policies, and other related items; verify accuracy

Verify policy information, facilitating corrections when necessary; deliver to insured per producer instruction and recode account to the applicable account manager based on agency guidelines

Independently develop and maintain strong knowledge of the marketplace and strong working relationships with company representatives and underwriters. If no coverage is available in the admitted market, investigate risk placement alternatives when available

When applicable, inform and educate producer/customer about policy coverage, changes, exclusion and insurance coverage needs; document explanations on automated file for future reference

Requirements

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in a related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)

5 to 8 years of progressive insurance experience

Certification and/or License - Property and Casualty license; CIC, CISR, AFIS, etc., preferred; may be required during course of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of insurance products and usages; of insurance markets and reference to markets; of insurance rating and underwriting procedures; and of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and underwriter assigned customer list

Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

Able to work independently with little or no supervision, operating from established directions and instructions

Able to make decisions within general agency constraints and insurance laws and apply independent decision-making

Able to respond to requests professionally, effectively, and efficiently

Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)

Able to organize time, energy, and resources effectively to achieve goals (i.e., organizational skills)

Able to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues; able to interpret complex information and respond appropriately

Able to carry out complex tasks with concrete and abstract variables; able to interpret abstract information

Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, and accurately perform simple calculations involving decimals and fractions

Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to read, write and speak English
