Senior Electrical Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our clients Electrical Engineering team on an urgent Quad Management Unit (QMU) PCBA initiative. This role will focus on immediate schematic capture and layout oversight for a high-power, safety-critical system. The ideal candidate is highly experienced, hands-on, and able to move quickly without sacrificing rigor or safety.

Lead end-to-end PCBA schematic capture for the Quad Management Unit (QMU), owning design quality, completeness, and technical correctness

Provide hands-on layout oversight, including guidance on placement, routing strategy, stack-up considerations, and high-speed / high-power constraints

Rapidly adapt and extend existing designs (AMU, ZMU) to meet QMU-specific functional and safety requirements

Ensure proper implementation of power architectures, including 48V input handling, buck conversion, and low-voltage regulation

Support design and integration of compute, networking, and communication interfaces, including high-speed Ethernet and field buses

Review and guide selection of critical components (MCUs, MPUs, Ethernet devices, power ICs, peripherals)

Enforce safety, compliance, and robustness standards appropriate for high-power and chemically sensitive environments

Partner closely with systems, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure design alignment and manufacturability

Balance aggressive timelines with engineering rigor, proactively identifying risks and driving resolution

Act as a senior technical contributor capable of operating with minimal oversight in a fast-paced development cycle

The QMU PCBA is a safety critical control and power distribution board supporting a quad level energy storage system. The board provides regulated power, control, monitoring, and communication between actuators, sensors, downstream electronics, and the pack level system.

The design includes high speed and low speed communication interfaces, with 1Gbps 1000BASE T1 single pair Ethernet as the primary interface, alongside CAN FD and standard control/debug protocols (SPI, UART, isoSPI, I2C, JTAG). Signal integrity, isolation, and robustness are key design considerations.

Compute elements include an MCU (LQFP) and optional support for an MPU SOM (SMARC carrier). Networking is handled via Ethernet PHYs and a high pin count Ethernet switch (196 pin BGA, 0.8 mm pitch). Power architecture spans a 48V input, intermediate buck conversion (24V, 5V), and multiple low voltage rails (3.3V, 1.8V, 1.1V), along with standard industrial peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, motor drivers, IO expanders, and high side drivers.

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to HR@insightglobal.com.
