Our client, an Aerospace and Defense company, is looking for a Special Process Manufacturing Engineer for their Orlando, FL location. Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with other Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Production stakeholders.
Creating/modifying detailed work instructions and other shop floor documentation to support production needs.
Creating fixture and tooling concepts and drawings.
Providing shop floor support as necessary to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
Investigating and performing Root Cause analysis of component non conformances and ensuring implementation of effective Corrective Action.
Monitoring and reporting on quality, schedule, and cost performance of assigned projects/programs.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Willingness to learn and receive training, and when required, train others.
Requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
3+ years manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
3+ years experience with painting, priming, plating, and coating lines.
Experience driving root cause corrective action response to quality defects.
Experience authoring work instructions and rework instructions.
Experience with non-conforming material procedures and material review board (MRB).
Experience collaborating with shop floor personnel to troubleshoot challenges and defects.
Experience working with cross functional operations team (quality, shop floor, supervision, production planning, engineering) to identify process improvement opportunities to reduce HPU and defects.
Experience interpreting military specifications for materials, paints, and coatings.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
Continuous improvement / Lean 6S experience.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Communication skills.
CARC paint, nickel plating, passivation, surface preparation procedures prior to bonding/priming/painting, mixing, curing, heat treatment, dry film thickness evaluation, wet tape adhesion testing.
Experience reviewing opportunities for capital investment and automation technology for masking/priming/painting/coating processes.
Knowledge of precision measuring tools, gauges, and equipment.
Experience with 3D printing and designing tooling for paint/coating application.
Experience utilizing CREO or NX for CAD.
Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications.
Validating chemical solutions via titration and pH measurement.
Running test panels to validate plating line process.
Monitoring production equipment such as pumps, heating elements, tank liners, etc.
Ordering chemicals/materials.
Monitoring DI water system.
Disposes of chemical waste properly.
3+ years experience with handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals.
