AECOM has a position available for a Solar Engineer within the Renewables and Microgrid Team of the Energy Practice Engineering Center of Excellence. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across markets sectors including transmission (substations, overhead and underground transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy), renewable generation (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), power distribution (overhead and underground power systems, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.). We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with a solar PV design and power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in solar engineering coupled with experience acting in responsible charge of and leading tasks on projects.
The successful candidate is expected to be a detail-oriented, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently under the guidance of senior staff. The focus of the experience must be in the power industry associated with solar engineering and design and their interconnection and distribution systems. Experience with battery energy storage and/or wind power is a plus. It is an excellent career opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background and looking to grow into an project leadership role.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering +4 years of relevant experience
Experience must include electrical design of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum eight (8) years of engineering experience preferred
PE license preferred
Highly proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel desired
Experience with other software in the industry such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, and Helioscope
MV AC Collection System Design Experience
Proficient with the NEC, as well as related codes such as IBC and NFPA 855
Strong familiarity with utility practices, industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, PIP etc.)
Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $140,000.00.
