SAIC is seeking Software Engineer Interns to support the U. S. Army program in creating experimental software applications located in El Paso, Texas.
MUST BE - El Paso, Texas local and willing to support the team year-round
The Software Engineer Intern will participate in developing, deploying, operating, and maintaining a suite of software applications with unique challenges in combining legacy code with some of the latest software technology.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement new software features based on project requirements
Write clean, well-documented code adhering to coding standards and best practices
Identify, debug, and resolve software defects
Participate in software requirements, code reviews, and test plan reviews
Create and maintain technical documentation for developed features
Collaborating with team members in-person and/or via Microsoft Teams to plan, estimate, and complete projects
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a STEM or technical degree path and two (2) years of college or work related experience
Experience with Java or C/C++ Familiarity with Linux operating system and command-line interface
Proficiency in using version control systems like Git to manage code changes
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams including product managers, analysts, and other engineers
Analytical skills to identify and troubleshoot technical issues, coming up with creative solutions to complex problems
Required Clearance:
Must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance (US citizenship required)
