Senior Software Engineer-Systems

The Boeing Company is currently seeking Senior Software Engineers-Systems to support our Flight Software team located in El Segundo, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization.

The ideal Senior Software System Engineers will be passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for existing and emerging Boeing commercial and government space programs.

This exciting position requires demonstrated experience with the software development full life cycle (requirements, design, code, test), ability to lead a team, and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities for multiple software programming projects. Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Software development tasks including requirements analysis, software architecture, designs, integration, and formal qualification.
  • Assisting with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Developing software verification plans, test procedures and test environments
  • Working and interfacing with a technically diverse user community and a multi-disciplined integrated product team (systems and software).
  • Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret - Interim Pre-Start & Final Post Start
  • 10+ years of classroom or work-related experience with the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
  • 3+ years of experience in software development using languages such as Go, Java, C/C++, Rust, or Python

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience using team collaboration tools including GitLab, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification

Travel: No travel is anticipated for this position

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Senior Level: $136,850 - $185,150

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. ยง120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
