This Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and/or specifying mechanical and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies that will be used within products that are used within the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Design Engineering team in the design and qualification of mechanical components, sub-systems, multi-level assemblies, and system architecture of various products that are used within the energy industry. This position will also work with other disciplines within the organization to understand customer and market requirements, design products to be easy to both manufacture and assemble, support products as they go through the Product Development Process, and support service and aftermarket needs. This position will work within the Design Engineering team and need to coordinate their work with other individuals to meet project requirements, timelines, and goals. The ability to understand high-level requirements and create detail-level requirements and designs will be key to meeting project objectives. This position will require an understanding of drawing standards, Change Notice practices, and the ability to create Bills of Materials based on their design output.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
- Design experience with structural enclosures, mechanical assemblies, HVAC systems, mechanical piping, firefighting systems, and power generation
- Problem solving skills, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
- Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years of product design experience
- Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry
- Design experience with programming languages and controls software
- Manufacturing and field support experience
- Proven ability to lead designers and other engineers
- Travel: 10-25%
- Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday-Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.
- Work Location: Onsite in Menasha, WI - There is some flexibility to work from home occasionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to designers and less experienced engineers in design activities
- Reviews technical drawings and mechanical specifications to ensure proper application of products within mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Supports the design of mechanical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation.
- Performs complex design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements or reviews others work for correctness.
- Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed.
- Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, mechanical component prints, mechanical assemblies, and compliance documents.
- Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis.
