Second Shift Operations Manager

The Second Shift Operations Manager is the team leader for the production and depot manufacturing environment for second shift operations. The successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross functional team which includes the Value Stream Lead (VSL), Production Support team (ME, PTE, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering/test support team. The Operations Manager will be tasked to generate, maintain, and execute clear operational schedules, priorities, goals while collaborating with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the Operations Manager will have accountability for production, depot deliveries, failure investigation and triage, direction to production support, prioritization of design engineering support and safety within their factory area.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both manufacturing and technical leadership roles.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaboration and communication, upstream and downstream with the Leadership Team
  • Utilization of knowledge of manufacturing principles, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities and manufacturing systems in support of initiatives, projects, improvements, and efforts
  • Overseeing and leading the generation, development and sustainment of product focused processes, tooling, equipment and test architecture
  • Ensure and monitor full compliance of company policies, procedures and requirements in support of manufacturing operations
  • Deploy and maintain lean transformation activities in conjunction with the value stream manager and support teams
  • Deploy and maintain CORE structure, concepts and execution including but not limited to tier accountability and continuous improvement
  • Personnel performance input for all related functions and career development of team members including coaching and mentoring
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, failure triage support and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
  • Compiling labor forecasts and Estimates at Complete (EACs) for the support and touch employees
  • Strategic planning development for short term execution as well as long range planning
  • Define and Execute priorities relating to safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Interact with support engineering, supply chain, and quality with respect to project schedules

This will be a 2nd Shift, with the working hours of 2:30pm - 11:00pm

This will be an onsite role in our Huntsville, AL facility

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • Experience with either manufacturing or operations, and quality and compliance background.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience
  • Active and transferable Secret clearance level required. U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain higher clearance level or program access prior to start date

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
  • Previous experience leading a direct team with specific deadlines, requirements or deliverables
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering practices
  • Quality requirements relating to manufacturing environments and an understanding of sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations in relation to similar @type of products or processes
