Run-Plant Engineer

The DuPont Vespel® manufacturing site in Newark, DE is seeking a Run-Plant Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology team. This engineer will be a key contributor to daily plant operations as well as long-term growth initiatives. Because this role involves export-controlled technology, U.S. citizenship is required.

Operational & Technical Responsibilities

Provide daily operational and technical support for the Direct Form and Resin production areas.

Identify, recommend, and implement engineering solutions to improve process safety, quality, capacity, uptime, rate, and cost.

Lead or review manufacturing process modifications, including MOC (Management of Change) and COD work processes.

Conduct and lead root cause analyses for process upsets, safety incidents, and quality or reliability issues.

Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods.

Support scale-up, optimization initiatives, and continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma methodology.

Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement (CI) teams.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to technicians and support personnel.

Create and maintain technical documentation and manufacturing database records.

Lead and support regular audits and participate in MRB activities.

New Product & Technology Development

Represent Manufacturing in NPCF projects, with emphasis on resin processes.

Support the development of new applications, products, and processes.

Collaborate with the Global Technology Guardian on long-term technology roadmaps.

Coordinate pilot manufacturing trials (TA).

Specify processing equipment and support capital project execution.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.

Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals (tolerance stack-up, locational fits, fatigue, machine dynamics).

Familiarity with revision control and formal MOC processes.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to contribute to a multi-functional global team.

Detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy and quality.

Self-motivated with strong time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Six Sigma or Lean certification (Green Belt preferred).

Experience with MOC, COD, RCA, LEAN, Kaizen methodologies.

Background in powder metals or ceramics application development.

At least 3 years of experience in particulate material compaction and part processing.

Experience operating or specifying compaction equipment for complex parts.

Additional Information

This is a 100% on-site role.

Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, with occasional off-hours support as needed.

Employment is contingent upon eligibility to access export-controlled technology, technical data, or defense services, or securing an appropriate U.S. government export authorization.
