R&D Software Engineer Intern

About the role: Our R&D engineers are tasked with designing and developing implant products for the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. This includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient's entire continuum of care, from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in developing and enhancing automated test scripts leveraging AI and machine learning tools
  • Support the integration of AI-driven approaches into existing test frameworks
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze requirements and design effective automated test solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • Java, Python, Data-Structures, Web frameworks, Databases
  • Current rising junior (grad dates between Dec 2027 - May 2028)
  • Working towards a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering.
  • Must be able to start internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.

Preferred qualifications:

  • AI: Deep learning models, LLM, ML basics, RAG, Agentic applications
  • Medical industry experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
