Industrialization Project Engineer

The Industrialization Project Engineer will lead and support the industrialization of new products, processes, and equipment into manufacturing. This role ensures that projects are executed on time, within budget, and meet quality, safety, and performance requirements.

Lead industrialization projects from concept through full production, ensuring a seamless transfer of new products and technologies to manufacturing.

Define project scope, objectives, schedules, and resource plans, coordinating cross-functional activities involving engineering, production, quality, and supply chain.

Manage the phases of equipment design, installation, validation, and ramp-up.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards during all project stages.

Monitor and report project progress, risks, and KPIs to stakeholders.

Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing by developing process layouts, work instructions, and control plans.

Optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Collaborate with R&D and design teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new products.

Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.

Lead process validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new or modified equipment.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions to resolve production issues.

Support documentation and training for operators and maintenance teams.

Partner closely with Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to ensure smooth project handover and long-term sustainability.

Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to manage tooling, equipment, and technical deliverables.

Contribute to strategic industrialization initiatives aligned with plant growth and modernization.

Essential Skills

3-5 years of experience in industrialization, process engineering, or project management within a manufacturing environment.

Proven experience with equipment installation, process validation, and project execution.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement tools.

Proficient in CAD software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Mechanical engineering background.

Experience in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process engineering.

Work Environment

The position requires handling the scope of the project from start to finish with a high degree of collaboration, communication, and self-discipline. Little to no travel is expected. The role is onsite five days a week, following a typical 8-hour shift, although some flexibility may be offered. The company manufactures and supplies high-temperature clay and cement-based refractory products for the steel and foundry industries, focusing on enhancing metal flow and casting quality.

This is a Contract position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
