As a Principal Thermal Design Engineer at Nokia, you will play a crucial role in advancing our optoelectronic component designs by developing innovative thermal solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across various locations, contributing your expertise to tackle complex challenges and enhance product performance. Design and implement innovative thermal cooling solutions for advanced optoelectronic components with a focus on data center interconnect products utilizing combinations of conduction, convection, and/or phase change-based heat transfer.
Conduct thermal, thermo-mechanical, and mechanical FEA analyses to model and validate designs.
Perform thermal Computation Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analyses.
Lead experimental validation of thermal solutions to ensure performance meets specifications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop assembly procedures and optimize product designs.
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on proposed thermal designs to mitigate risks.
Create detailed production-level CAD models and drawings for manufacturing readiness.
Work closely with vendors to finalize specifications and manage procurement of thermal materials and components.
Engage with customers and suppliers.
Engage with manufacturing and operations to ensure new platforms meet cost, yield, and cycle time targets.
You have: PhD (required) in Mechanical Engineering with more than 5 years of experience. Expertise in FEA and CFD, with proficiency in ANSYS and FloTherm. Solid experience with Pro/Engineer, Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with FMEA. Experience with DOE. Experience with optical system components and data center rack-based products. Knowledge of optoelectronic components and assembly and industry qualification specifications.
It would be nice if you also had: Familiarity with SQL databases and Agile product data management SW. Experience in conducting experiments to validate modeling.
