Testing Team Member

The Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) Child Support Information Technology Division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Testing Team within the Application Development and Test group. Performs highly complex systems analysis work that involves completing software test activities for all test phases of a software development project.

Oversees and/or performs highly complex coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of modern applications from a testing perspective. Analyzes business requirements, software requirements, and software design documentation to develop complex test scenarios and test plans to ensure critical requirements are met. Coordinates with users to identify system requirements, develop functional design specifications to meet requirements, and solve complex operational problems.

Coordinates the review of test plans, scripts, and results of system testing; executes test plan and script reviews; performs system testing, regression testing, and facilitates user acceptance testing. Identifies and documents software defects; oversees analysis and assists developers in analyzing and resolving defects. Works with owners, users, and programmers to identify underlying issue and resolution; works with users to verify that problem has been resolved.

Oversees and/or performs the research and the analysis required for all automated testing development and engineering activity for software and systems modifications, and new projects. Oversees and/or develops instructions or manuals for developers and/or testers to execute automated testing programs and scripts using the suite of CSD adopted testing tools. Performs related work as assigned.

Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Telework schedules are permitted for employees based on the agency's approved Telework Plan (if schedule does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained). Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience: Five years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: systems analysis, software testing, computer information systems, management information systems, project management, or other related fields; may substitute credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Experience developing and implementing test plans, QA processes and methodologies. Experience with identifying, analyzing, and documenting defects, errors, and inconsistencies in software programs. Experience performing manual testing. Experience in test data and environment setup for end-to-end testing. Knowledge of automation testing, automation frameworks and tools. Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies, project management principles and practice. Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems, the techniques used in the design of non-automated systems, information technology equipment, applicable programming languages, computer hardware and software, computer operating systems, writing program code, and automated mapping.

Skill in coordinating and solving problems; scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing programs; and troubleshooting computer systems. Skill in planning and organizing work to meet goals and complete multiple assignments without compromising accuracy. Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines. Skill in effective communication. Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making. Ability to analyze systems and procedures, to write and revise standards and procedures, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others. Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional environment. Ability to work in person at an OAG work location, if needed. Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel, if needed. Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA. Ability to lift and relocate 10 lbs. Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%.

Systems Analyst V – All of the above minimum qualifications for a Systems Analyst IV, PLUS: Experience: One additional year of full-time experience working in systems analysis, software testing, computer information systems, management information systems, project management, or other related fields; may substitute credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred qualifications: Advanced degrees and education related to computer programming, test engineering, computer systems, and information technology. Experience working in or using Agile methodologies and tools. Experience with Selenium, Ready API and other test automation and performance testing tools. Experience with state government systems. Experience with the Texas Child Support Program.
