The Nursing Assistants (NA) will be assigned to the L1 Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit or M1 Inpatient Geropsychiatry units within the Mental Health Service at the Long Beach VA Healthcare System. Responsibilities include providing complex nursing care independently as a member of the nursing care team by assisting other NAs, licensed nursing staff, and other members of the care team. The NA assists with the care of patients/residents receiving inpatient Mental Health care at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System. They provide care under close supervision, are learning to perform complex nursing skills, and will refer issues/questions to supervisors, other nursing assistants, licensed nursing staff or other healthcare professionals.
Work Schedule: Night Shift; 12 hour tour; 07:30PM - 08:00AM. Work schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the organization.
Requirements include being a U.S. Citizen, proficiency in written and spoken English, and the ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
Qualifications include basic requirements such as United States Citizenship, experience or education, and English Language Proficiency. Additional criteria include progressively responsible assignments and experience equivalent to the GS-4 level, or education above high school with courses related to nursing care, health care or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position.
