MFP Data Support Specialist

Role Overview:

The full working title of this role is Money Follows the Person Project Coordinator. This role is integral to the BDS central office team, serving as the Indiana Money Follows the Person (MFP) Project Coordinator. Money Follows the Person provides an enhanced federal match for services and supports to help seniors and people with disabilities move from institutions into communities. Your role will oversee and coordinate long-term care services and supports that include MFP and the Pre-Admission Screening Resident Review (PASRR). You will work collaboratively with other team members within the Division, as well as coordination with other subject matter experts in the FSSA.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, procedures and program regulations as they pertain to HCBS waivers, Supervised Group Living settings, Nursing Facilities, and other relevant program areas. They will have a thorough understanding of the disability population with regard to service needs, specific behavioral concerns, health issues, and challenges. Specialized knowledge of community resources, both public and private is desired.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $55,224.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Assists with transferring raw data to the appropriate location for use in data analysis projects.

Utilizes existing documentation and guidance from senior staff to wrangle, clean, and validate agency data sources.

Contributes to general analysis of agency datasets.

Conducts data quality checks to ensure the validity and cleanliness of agency datasets prior to their use in analysis and reporting.

Interprets data and from multiple sources using a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to data mining, to supporting statistical methodologies.

Develops compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to target audience(s).

Adheres to HIPAA, PII, PHI and other state statutes concerned with protecting data confidentiality and individual privacy.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either:

an Associate's Degree with some experience, or

at least 2+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

Experience with data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming.

Knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying or demonstrated ability to learn.

Experience with SQL, Tableau, R, Python, PowerBI, and/or ArcGIS.

Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Broad knowledge of data analysis, analytics, or statistics or demonstrated ability to learn.

Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and fluid demands.

Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external customers.

Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
