Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability

Our client, an AV Manufacturing company, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability for their Foster City, CA location. Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
  • Evaluating part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.
  • Developing service part release strategy and maintaining the Service BOM for spare parts planning.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
  • Supporting specialized tooling design, development, and validation that is used by the field team.
  • Participating in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product, and reliability.
  • Providing comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change that supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.
  • Working with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle.
  • Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product and process validation.
  • Tooling and/or equipment design experience.
  • Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience, CATIA a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously to manage projects.
