Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a talented SolidWorks 3D Modeler Mechanical Designer who is proficient in designing for manufacturing (DFM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing assembly, subassembly, parts, weldments, and piping systems models, as well as design and shop drawings. A solid understanding of GD&T, ASME Y14.100 Drawing Standards, and PDM is required. Candidates with experience in creating products that have been carried through the manufacturing process will be highly regarded.

Design and develop 3D models using SolidWorks for mechanical components.

Prepare detailed assembly, subassembly, part, weldment, and piping system models.

Create design and shop drawings following GD&T and ASME Y14.100 Drawing Standards.

Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes.

Collaborate with the engineering team to carry products from design through manufacturing.

Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting.

Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM).

Understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.100 Drawing Standards.

Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.

Experience supporting nuclear projects, such as the TerraPower IVTM program, is a plus.

Familiarity with PDM systems would be beneficial.

The position is a 6 month contract onsite in Huntsville, AL that has a positive outlook for team growth and contract extensions.

This opportunity offers a great campus environment with amenities such as an onsite cafeteria, gym, and hair salon. The core working hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM, with flexibility for some employees to work from 6 AM to 3 PM or 7 AM to 4 PM.

This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
