Apple is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Exploratory Design team. This role will support design, engineering, prototyping and validation activities for new technologies. Day to day job responsibilities include mechanical design, 3D Modeling, process development, testing of parts/assemblies and performing FEA.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Mechanical Engineering
Previous professional experience in mechanical product design
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD
Experience performing FEA modeling (structural/thermal) for design validation
Experience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs
Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques
Understanding of mechanical drawing composition (functional dimensioning and tolerance stack-up analysis)
Strong analytical/problem solving skills, spatial reasoning and excellent technical communication
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating strain/temperature sensitive components and subassemblies
Experience with thermo-mechanical modeling, design and validation
