Manufacturing Process Engineer

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for custom blow molded products across various industries, including automotive, industrial, consumer, and specialty applications. This role involves process design, continuous improvement initiatives, and implementing best practices in automotive manufacturing. The facility operates as a low volume, high product mix environment with a focus on short production runs.

Responsibilities

Develop and optimize processes for custom blow molded products.

Implement automotive manufacturing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Lead APQP efforts for new product launches and conduct PFMEA and cycle time analysis.

Design and build holding fixtures, cooling racks, and assembly jigs using CAD software, such as SolidWorks.

Work hands-on with molding presses and downstream assembly processes to improve efficiency.

Focus on minimizing waste, trimming, and deflashing post-blow molding.

Address assembly bottlenecks to align production rates with blow molding processes.

Essential Skills

Proven expertise in process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies.

Strong background in lean manufacturing and APQP for new product launches.

Hands-on mechanical aptitude, with experience in hydraulics and/or pneumatics.

Experience in plastics manufacturing, specifically blow molding and plastic injection.

Project management skills and proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with extrusion blow molding is a plus.

Background in the automotive industry is beneficial.

A degree in a relevant engineering field is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a collaborative setting alongside an experienced engineering manager.

The company is expanding its contract business, with growth potential in military defense and automotive sectors, facility has around 150 employees.

Hours:

Flexible working hours typically between 7 AM and 4 PM, with variations from 6 AM to 8 AM as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgis, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
