Manufacturing Engineer

At Blue Origin Operations, we are building the future of spaceflight. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production of reusable, human-rated spacecraft systems that support our mission: Launch. Land. Repeat. Our New Shepard program is central to advancing the development of next-generation vehicles like New Glenn, Orbital Reef, and beyond. As we pave the way to accessible space travel, we're growing our team with driven, collaborative engineers ready to solve complex problems and contribute to making space available to everyone-for the benefit of Earth.

As a key member of the manufacturing engineering team, you'll serve as the technical link between design engineering and production. You'll support the full manufacturing lifecycle-from design reviews to hands-on troubleshooting on the shop floor. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct, on-the-ground support to production in a fast-paced, highly technical manufacturing environment.
  • Leading assembly, installation, and testing efforts, ensuring compliance with all engineering and quality requirements.
  • Acting as a cross-functional liaison between design, test, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • Owning the investigation and disposition of non-conforming parts and assemblies using detailed work instructions.
  • Performing root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions (RCCA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Participating in gated design and operational reviews; preparing and evaluating technical deliverables.
  • Contributing to design-for-manufacturability (DFM) discussions and providing feedback during engineering design reviews.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives through Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to reduce nonconformances and improve manufacturability.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in manufacturing or systems integration.
  • Experience working with complex structural assemblies, including alignment, tolerance stack-ups, torquing, and fastening.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and disposition non-conforming hardware (NC).
  • Working knowledge of structural materials, fasteners, bonding techniques, and surface treatments.
  • Experienced in breaking down intricate engineering schematics into streamlined, process-driven work instructions for efficient execution.
  • Proficient in standard engineering software tools and capable of learning new systems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, a hands-on mindset, and ownership of quality at every stage of production.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a dynamic production environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Creo/ProE preferred).
  • Experience with hand calculations, CFD, and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred).
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
