Litigation Support Specialist

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that participates in investigating and litigating civil and criminal cases by providing litigation support services to Assistant United States Attorneys at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana. At the full performance level typical work assignments will include:

  • Providing technical and analytical assistance to support the litigation needs of the United States Attorney's Office
  • Performing a variety of litigation support functions necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop, manage, and track exhibits, evidence and data in criminal and civil cases and matters
  • Assisting attorneys and legal staff in organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval
  • Managing complex electronically stored information (ESI)
  • Processing electronically stored information (ESI) using appropriate tools
  • Building databases in review software
  • Training legal support staff on use of processing software, tools, and equipment used in performance of duties
  • Applying knowledge of court programs, automation requirements, and characteristics to resolve problems

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications:

GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:

  • Specialized experience: Applicant must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service.
  • Education: Applicant must possess one the following degrees in a related field (e.g. Law, Criminal Justice, Information Technology): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B. or J.D.
  • Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:

  • Specialized experience: Applicant must posses one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service.
  • Education: Applicant must possess one the following degrees in a related field (e.g. Law, Criminal Justice, Information Technology): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M.
  • Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
