The R&D Test Systems Engineering (TSE) team is dedicated to developing scalable test solutions that accelerate product development cycles, leveraging cutting-edge technology to reduce costs and enhance flexibility. This team uniquely supports both vehicle and energy programs across R&D, engineering, and manufacturing. As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to various business aspects and directly impact the mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, validate, and integrate end-to-end electrical hardware test solutions to support product development, testing, and manufacturing teams.
Take ownership of PCB electronics and electrical sub-systems, including specifications, design, prototyping, validation testing, and system integration.
Develop electrical schematics, bill of materials, harness drawings, and system diagrams.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical, Software, Firmware, Regulatory, Testing, Manufacturing, Build, and Operations teams.
Bring up, commission, conduct root cause analysis, and troubleshoot field issues at various global locations.
Create documentation for test equipment certification, operation, and maintenance.
Coach and mentor Engineers, Interns, and Technicians to develop their technical skills and experience.
Essential Skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Hands-on hardware design, testing, and debugging experience in power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC converters) and low-power analog and digital circuits.
Experience in PCB layout with considerations for signal integrity, noise, and EMI (Altium experience preferred).
Proficiency with modeling and circuit simulation tools such as MATLAB-Simulink, LTspice.
Experience with embedded programming and digital communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, SPI, I2C).
Strong knowledge of dynos, motors, drives, power systems, and switchgear components.
Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), FMEA tools/process, and quality control.
Experience with laboratory test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, high-voltage differential probes, and power analyzers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master's graduate with 3-4 years of experience, a PhD with 3-4 years, or 10+ years of industry experience, ideally in power electronics, AC/DC inverters, and high voltage systems.
Experience with test automation and data analysis in NI LabVIEW, Python.
Familiarity with enterprise tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Office.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, involving interaction with various cross-functional groups. You will work with advanced technologies including high-power bidirectional AC-DC and DC-DC converters, motor/powertrain/chassis dynamometers, inverters, and data acquisition systems. This role may require global travel to troubleshoot and support field issues.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
