A leading energy client of Insight Global is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join their team in Kansas City! We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who is passionate about ownership and quality. This role involves leading technical work on EPC projects, influencing standards and procedures, and ensuring quality in the electrical discipline. Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with our EPC team and clients to deliver high-quality results.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage scope, budget, and schedule for electrical projects, including change management, while being client-facing.
60% is project management, 40% technical - managing complex scope for power generating projects and dealing with generators, circuit design, circuit way schedules, circuit writing process, schematics, one lines, electrical enclosure packages, etc.
Person does not need to have any sort of lead experience in the past, just a very strong technical understanding of the work and a desire to move into a more elevated oversight role
Provide third-party engineering oversight and management for the electrical team.
Execute electrical technical design and potentially serve as the engineer of record.
Perform review routine and complex electrical engineering tasks using current technology and standards.
Prepare/review load lists, power system studies, single lines, equipment layouts, area classifications, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.
Collaborate with the EPC team and clients on RFIs, reviews, change orders, and equipment buyout.
Regularly review vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
Foster high-performing teams and mentor team members - will have 2 younger engineers and an electrical designer that they are responsible for
Develop, review, and implement guidelines for engineering standardization.
Stay updated on technology and industry practices and find practical applications.
Lead quality checks of project design and engineering to ensure accuracy.
Establish credibility through technical competency and team leadership.
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
6 years of experience as an electrical engineer in power generation
Generators, switchgears, transformers, relay circuits, etc. Registered Professional Engineer
Experience within the power generation, gas generation, fossil fuels
