Lab Client Service Representative - Lorain Hospital
This is a collective bargaining unit position.
Shift/Schedule: Full time - scheduled for 40 weekly hours. Shift times: days/afternoons. Rotating weekend & holiday availability required.
Summary of primary function/general purpose of position:
The lab client services support overall laboratory operations by performing the duties of receptionist, patient and/or specimen collection and registration to include: test ordering, billing, verifying medical necessity, and preparation for mailing of laboratory test results.
Essential job functions:
- Answers and initiates phone calls
- Supports physician office needs
- Investigates patient and client billing issues
- Processes specimen and add-ons
- Registers patients
- Generates reports
- Maintains inventory levels and stocks supplies
- When staffed in microbiology department, culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation. Performs the MST (micro setup time) as needed.
- May perform specimen collection.
Education:
High school/GED (required)
Work experience:
Medical secretarial experience (preferred)
Medical administrative assistant experience (preferred)
Experience in a medical office (preferred)
