Senior Intelligence Analyst

This position is located at the United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Benning, Georgia. Responsibilities include serving as the Senior Intelligence Analyst within a Regimental Rifle Battalion, responsible for detailed all-source analysis of specific regional geographic or functional areas. The role requires knowledge of various intelligence disciplines, along with command intelligence activities and programs. The analyst formulates/develops and interprets intelligence plans, regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applies new command policies and guidance as required. Represents the Battalion, the Regiment and/or a deployed Joint Special Operations Task Force as a Senior Intelligence Analyst. Mentors junior and newly assigned civilian and military analysts in multi-intelligence capabilities, mission areas, and technical analytical skills. Ensures intelligence databases are maintained for functional areas or specific countries within the Unified Command Area of Responsibility.

Requirements include meeting one of the employment authority categories below and providing documents proving eligibility. Categories include: 10-Point Other Veterans' Rating, 30 Percent or More Disabled Veterans, Current Army Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Employee, Current Department of Army Civilian Employees, Current Department of Defense (DOD) Civilian Employee (non-Army), Current DoD Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Employee (non-Army), Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Interchange Agreement, Disabled Veteran w/ a Service-Connected Disability, More than 10%, Less than 30%, Non-Department of Defense (DoD) Transfer, Prior Federal Service Employee, Priority Placement Program, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Eligible, Priority Placement Program, DoD MR and NG Preference Eligible Tech, Receiving Disability Retirement Priority Placement Program, DoD Retained Grade Preference Eligible, United States Citizen Applying to a DCIPS Position.

To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. To qualify based on your experience and/or education, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: Contributing to the development of in-depth intelligence analytical assessments to determine best methodology to counter enemy threat forces or technology; Applying all-source intelligence practices and methodologies pertaining to Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) intelligence disciplines; Producing and interpreting analytical findings to establish and document basis for mission changes of assigned targets; and conducting regular liaison with National intelligence Community counterparts for the development of strategies for mission accomplishment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and/or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.

This is an Emergency-Essential (E-E) position subject to deployment; E-E employees must be exempted from military mobilization or recall obligations by being placed in the Standby Reserve or other appropriate action. Anthrax inoculation program participation may be required to meet deployment requirements. This position is considered E-E in support of Army's mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension and mobilization. Position is considered E-E because (1) no qualified and immediate replacement exists; and (2) having it vacant would (a) impair the effective operation of essential military support systems, or (b) adversely impact the combat mission of deployed forces. Failure to remain in your position may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Services. E-E Civilians are required to sign a DOD Form 2365; the employee agrees that, as a requirement of the position, he/she will remain in the event of hostilities or mobilization until relieved by proper authority. Single parents or families, where both parents are emergency essential, are required to prepare a family care plan. E-E employees may be required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training, and to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises. Employees must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location. E-E employees may be required to perform duties under austere and potentially hazardous conditions during exercise and real-world crisis deployments.
