This position reports to the Field Services Supervisor. The Field Service Technician will service, maintain, repair, and install OEM chemical equipment. The position requires travel to customer sites (domestic and international), an ability to work independently, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Other responsibilities include assisting customers with troubleshooting, parts selection, instrument programming, and calibration via phone, computer, or at the customer's site.
Essential Functions
Travel to customer site to inspect, calibrate, repair, and upgrade OEM equipment.
Learn and understand inorganic chemical processes to successfully program PLC's including Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
Build PLC electrical control panels and install with related equipment in the field (requires travel).
Write detailed service reports in regard to customer equipment condition.
Troubleshoot and/or problem-solve OEM equipment at customer site or via telephone or computer.
Request part numbers (PNRs) and engineering requests for action (RFAs).
Mark up project prints and obtain appropriate approvals.
Commission and startup equipment, train customer personnel, and assist with engineering review (requires travel).
Continually identify quality and cost effective modifications/improvements to equipment design and components which will increase profitability. Test alternative techniques and methods. Recommend changes in procedures or equipment as necessary.
Write technical maintenance bulletins.
Locate unusual or specialized parts or components, new or used.
